Little Man was disappointed when we first got goats that he didn’t get a boy goat that he could name. Ellis Farms had Ethel’s brother whethered earlier this week and he was available. So with the ability to have a “boy” goat for Little Man and not have the risk of unplanned little goats, we decided to surprise Little Man with his new goat! I left work earlier to pick up the goat and Little Man had no idea when he first got home from school! Source

Came home from work this afternoon and the bees moved on into the hive! They are quite busy chewing down on the pollen patty and sugar water! Hopefully they will build quickly and strongly. I have their hive positioned in an area with a lot of honey suckle that is bloomed out, I would think that should give them some quick food nearby. #firsttimebeekeeper #honeybees[fb_vid id=”1454846564587970″] Source

Nom Nom Nom!

Nom Nom Nom! Such yummy greens! We have decided to name this goat Lucy. She is quite adventurous and we can see where she will be the trouble maker. Our other goat is now Ethel as she follows Lucy everywhere. Even into trouble. It seems quite fitting to name them after the amazing TV duo of Lucy and Ethel of the I Love Lucy show! Fun times indeed![fb_vid id=”1433276856744941″] Source

The chickens found them amusing, but didn’t seem so happy when the goats came in to eat their supper. M I cleaned out the …

First plantings of the season!

First plantings of the season! We had several plants that needed to be moved from their starter pots. With a freeze warning this morning, I’m not comfortable planting them into the ground just yet. So we setup everything up in some pots. They placed near the garage in case I need to move them in for the night. We had some seeds to start, and more of them then pots. So I decided to experiment with my new soul blocker for the extra seeds. Little Man was a big help putting the seeds into the souls blocks as I made …

A successful first night!

A successful first night! The two doelings seemed to have a good night. As soon as they heard me walking down to check in them and feed them this morning they started saying hello! We peeked in on them late last night and they were curled up together in the corner. Seemed to be just chilling.[fb_vid id=”1428791183860175″] Source

These little doelings miss their mama

[fb_vid id=”1427896170616343″] Last but not least for the farm activity today, these little doelings miss their mama! When we are around they play and head but each other. As soon as we leave you hear them crying out! They only do it for a few minutes, but it still sounds so sad! We will have to make sure and spend extra time with them tomorrow. In the meantime, we are try to decide on names for these two new additions to our family. Feel free to leave suggestions in the comments![fb_vid id=”1427896170616343″] Source
